The Curator will attempt to function as a art curation installation for a society that has become too
obsessed with art.
This project is a experiment that attempts to include the viewer in a narrative and has them interact with a sentry gun while viewing content displayed on a video screen. The experiment is to impose this system on individuals that attempt to interact with the system and viewing their interactions. Systems that harm an individual as a means of creating art have been created in our society but few physically harm the audience as an intentional function of the art piece. The possibility of harm will not be stated to the viewer and only through interaction will they see that harm. The threat of harm is an integral part of understanding and interacting with this piece.
The narrative constructed around the system explains that the reason for the creation of this system was to deal with a society that has become so immersed in art that other aspects of their culture have declined. The imposition of this system is meant to only allow the viewer to interact with the video screen from a certain distance for a finite amount of time.
This project attempts to answer the question of how a viewer will interact with an art piece while not only being watched by others in the gallery space but by an oppressive automated force that could cause them physical harm. Another topic that this project deals with is how would society deal with art that harms them for viewing.
